Celebrate St. James is developing a comprehensive plan for the purchase of the Calderone theatre (176 Second Street) and transforming it into a community center, comprising of a small recording studio, classrooms, meeting rooms, areas for art and music therapy, a movie museum and art gallery. This plan is estimated to cost approximately $1 to $2 million.
Proceeds from the events scheduled at the St James Community Cultural Arts Center will go towards the purchase and restoration of this building.

The amazing work of art, “Embracing our Heroes,” by Arline Goldstein, graces the cover of the second Celebrate St. James Keepsake Calendar honoring and celebrating our hometown heroes. The new 18-month calendar, running from January 2021 through June 2022, features the work of local artists who were inspired by those on the front lines during the pandemic. In the media of oil, acrylic, watercolor, photography and chalk art, the artists share their own words and feelings as well as their art.
