Treasurer
Dorothea McLaughlin brings over 30 years of professional experience as a Bookkeeper/Treasurer to her role as the Treasurer of Celebrate St. James Cultural Arts Center. With a deep understanding of financial management and a strong commitment to community, Dorothea has dedicated much of her career to supporting the fiscal integrity of organizations. Having retired from her career in bookkeeping, she continues to offer her expertise with a passion for ensuring the continued success and growth of Celebrate St. James.
In addition to her professional background, Dorothea is an active and dedicated member of the Catholic Daughters of America, where she has served in various leadership positions, including Vice Regent, Financial Secretary, and Recording Secretary. Her involvement in this organization has strengthened her skills in both leadership and service to others, reinforcing her strong values of integrity, responsibility, and community engagement.
A longtime resident of St. James, Dorothea was raised in Nesconset and made St. James her home after marrying her husband, Charlie. Together, they raised three daughters and became deeply embedded in the fabric of their community. Dorothea’s love for animals is evident in her personal life, where she has opened her home to countless rescue dogs over the years, offering them care and a loving environment.
As empty nesters, Dorothea and Charlie now have more time to contribute to local events and activities. They enjoy volunteering at Celebrate Events, where they lend their support to initiatives that bring the community together. Outside of her volunteer work, Dorothea is excited to return to her artistic pursuits, particularly her love for stained glass. She hopes to once again immerse herself in this creative endeavor, which has been a longstanding passion of hers.
