The excitement is mounting as Celebrate St. James Past - Present - Future rolls out an ambitious endeavor to raise awareness in the town of its illustrious past, especially around the turn of the 20th century and before. It was a town filled with artists, musicians, writers, performers, and the home of famed architect Stanford White, as well as William J. Gaynor who was mayor of NYC in 1909. In an effort to awaken some of the amazing historical moments of times past and bring its relevance to current generations, Celebrate St. James will be presenting its first annual theatrical production in October 2018. Through historic recreations, tableaus of the work of local artist, William Sidney Mount, music, song, dance and film, the people and events that made our town so special then will come alive to educate, entertain and inspire new audiences of today.
