Art Classes ~ For Adults

Join us in a gathering of art lovers to express and share your ideas, talents, or to just enjoy camaraderie of peers. You can bring your own work or take on a new one. Also, guidance will be provided as needed.

All skill levels are welcome!

Each class is $100 for a six-week course:

 

Beginning October 11 & 12, 2022

Drawing 1 Tuesdays 11:00-12:30

Drawing 2 Tuesdays 1 PM-2:30

Painting 1 Wednesdays 11:00-12:30

Painting 2 Wednesdays 1PM- 2:30

Instructor, Professor Beth Drucker is a Designer, Illustrator and Writer. She has taught at Parson’s The New School of Design, F I T, Nassau CC, the Art League of Long Island plus many others.

Drawing 1

Learn various techniques and experiment with drawing. We will be covering various types and media for sketching and finishing drawings.

Relax and enjoy the company of other artists who are beginning to learn how to “see”. All skill levels are welcome!

Supplies:  Sketchbook, 4B pencils, and a kneaded eraser

 

Drawing 2

Continue learning to draw while improving your technique. In a relaxed atmosphere, experiment and try different methods.

Supplies:  Sketchbook, 4B pencils, and a kneaded eraser

Painting 1

Learn to use color and shape to begin working with paint. Have fun in a friendly, relaxed atmosphere! We will learn about simple landscapes, and still-life painting, stress-free. Relax and have fun learning to paint!

Supplies:  Watercolor (pans) or tubes, watercolor paper, various-size water brushes, a rag, and a water container.

 

Painting 2

Continue learning to use your watercolor.

Bring pics of what you would like to paint. Have fun painting with color and learning how to achieve various textures and color theory.

Supplies:  Paint of your choice (tube, pan, or gouache), watercolor paper, brushes, water container, palette, color wheel and rags.

Support our vision to "Save the Theatre," as we transform the iconic Calderone Theater building at 176 Second Street, St. James into a gathering place for fun and entertainment - while preserving this historical treasure in our town and creating a legacy for the future.
